From Darkness to Light

There will be times in your process of awakening where you will simply not make any sense of anything. It will feel dark and mysterious and potentially scary. You will feel as though you have no compass and no purpose or light to shine the way.

Do not let this dishearten you for you will come to a place of sweet surrender in time that will have you so happy and grateful to yourself that you stayed with it. There will always be light at the end of the tunnel.

It is all simply preparation so that as you step fully into Who You Are, you will be prepared for it.

Don’t be fooled by the lure of the shiny disco balls, the lure of material wealth and money for they will only hook you back into the very story you are awakening from.

Ask yourself, is it more important that you have all your power sourced from within or have your bank balance full? It’s a question well worth pondering your response to as so many times I hear people talk of their detachment to money and the trappings that come with it but when it really comes down to it, they baulk when challenged to expand beyond that self-imposed invisible jail.

And no, I do not purport to living frugally or aspire to the life of a monk who has denounced all worldly things and comforts. Indeed far from it. As an abundant unlimited being, have whatever your heart desires so long as you know that someone who has their power would need not their ‘back-up plan’ or ‘rainy day strategy’.

This truly is a time of further expansion beyond the current paradigm and for those called to awaken, such as you, the one who reads this, there is no time for delay. Release the guylines and set sail into some unchartered waters for you will be rewarded mightily.

Open your mind, open your heart and cut yourself free from that which binds you. Live a fully expressed life of your choosing and create an experience in symphony with all that surrounds you. Draw forth into form the glowing, golden vision of your heart and soul. It is truly magnificent, YOU are truly magnificent.

It’s time.

The benefit of taking the path less travelled…

Your head will never understand or be able to rationalise why doing what you truly love will align you with flow and bring you exactly what you require.

Today I have had sessions with clients who have shown themselves by putting themselves out there and choosing the more audacious choice that was in front of them. None of them, in the moment, could make sense of why their gut feeling was telling them to take such an edgy more but most importantly, they went ahead. I supported them with their challenge and all the headstuff that came up and reminded them that this discomfort is part of the deal when it comes to following your intuition, your feeling.

The commonality I noticed today across them all was simply how alive and free and energetically ATTRACTIVE they were. Their physical bodies reflecting this in their skin, how they spoke and their general way of being.

So I wonder how this can be speaking to you?

What feeling are you sitting on and not following up on because you are feeling fearful? Or perhaps your head can’t make sense of whatever it is and pushes it down?

Maybe you are one of the many people I come across who have convinced themselves that they don’t know what they love or what makes them feel alive?

Have you ever stopped to think about this?

Have you noticed when there is someone in a group, your family, at the office, in your friendships, that starts to complain or gossip, that energy more often than not gets transferred onto another person in the group. Maybe even you! One moment you were feeling fine and happy and the next you suddenly feel emotional, caught up and are feeling uncomfortable.

Whenever you aren’t present, you will find that it is almost impossible not to get caught up in the drama and circumstances around you.

Elkhart Tolle refers to this as ‘the pain body’ and I liken it to being like a virus.

So how can you stop the tendency of getting drawn into other peoples stories and emotions? The answer is one of those simple yet not easy things. You build your emotional resilience by learning to bring your complete and undivided attention into the here and now.

You don’t ignore or resist hanging around with people in case they draw you in but rather you learn how to hold your own space when you are around them. This way you not only keep yourself engaged and involved but at the same time don’t fuel the drama and unconsciousness by getting sucked in!

As we fast approach the beginning of a New Year, so many people start to talk about making resolutions that often end up putting your attention into the future … I’m going to invite you to do the opposite!

 

What if the whole thing about New Year’s resolutions was counter-productive and has been a tantalising trick of the mind?

 

  • Are you over all the judgment and expectation that comes with New Year?
  • Have you had enough of letting yourself down with failed promises?
  • Do you find yourself overcommitting to things, people or work?
  • Do you find yourself struggling to remember what is important to you and end up getting busy just to distract yourself?
  • Are you someone who spends a lot of time stuck in your head and paralysed by analysis?!
  • MOST IMPORTANTLY, have you ever stopped to ask yourself why you do all that?

I ask those of you who make resolutions each year on 1st January, what is your experience of what happens when you set these type of goals? Do you actually experience transformation and lasting shifts in your behaviour? Or do you find that after a few days, weeks or if you are really tenacious, a month or two, the old behaviour you have been trying to change, re-emerges or something equally as annoying pops up to replace it!

 

The problem with most resolutions is that they sit in the old paradigm of fixing and changing behaviours which you judge as being wrong or dysfunctional. So the focus goes on what is wrong and needs to go away rather than having your attention on what you love or what you are moving towards.

 

You see, we get what we predominantly focus on with our thoughts. Simply put, if our energy is on what we don’t want and what we don’t like, we get more of that. And wherever there is resistance, you get more resistance.

 

As you are constantly creating your experience in each moment, both consciously and more importantly, unconsciously it pays to wise up to what is going through your mind. Meditation is a perfect way of becoming more conscious and although for the beginner, it can be quite confronting to bear witness to what is going on in your head, over time you begin to see some fascinating patterns.

 

It is said that we have between 50-70,000 thoughts a day with only 5000 of them original and the rest being repetitive and mostly negative self-talk. Until we can turn to face those thoughts and feel the emotions that swim around with them, we will forever be caught in a cycle resistance and exhaustion from over-thinking.

 

Instead of this year making more resolutions and plans to fix what is ‘wrong’, how about you get present and take stock of what is happening right here and now and FEEL what is going on before adding a whole lot more into your life.

 

I’m an expert in supporting people to reach clarity where there is confusion. I encourage people to love and respect who they are by wising up to what is really going on for them so that they can make true and authentic choices in each moment and I support people to break addictive patterns of behaviour and focus their minds on what really brings them peace of mind and joy.

I love this piece from Esther Hicks and Abraham. It’s a large part of what I work on with my clients and that is remembering not to judge the emotions as they move through you but to use them to keep moving towards the next best feeling space within.

“Joseph Campbell said “Follow your bliss” …we think those are the best words that have ever been offered but sometimes you cannot get a whiff of bliss.

If you are in despair and something bad has happened, if you’ve witnessed something and someone is saying ‘you should follow your bliss’, even though Source is calling you , you can’t hear it because the vibration of where you are and the vibration of Source is different enough you can’t hear it. Not that it isn’t calling but you can’t hear it.

So, do you know what the call of Source sounds like? people say it must be like hearts and angels, we say, it depends on where you are. If you are in appreciation, the call of Source feels like elation- if you are in despair, if you are feeling powerless, then the call of Source feels like rage. If you are in rage or anger the call of Source then feels like frustration, in other words a slight improvement from where you are is what the call of Source always sounds like.

If you’ve ever been depressed, you know how much better you feel when you get mad, your friends don’t want you to be mad , they liked you better when you were depressed but you’ve got to admit, at least you are breathing now, you do feel better. So, everything about coming into alignment with who you are is about closing that gap between whatever you’re focussed upon in your NOW experience and who you really are.”

How about we use our voices , hashtags, ‘likes’ and blogs to post and link to messages and stories of love instead of fear? Just imagine that each time we became aware of yet another post on our social media wall that draws attention to fear mongering and criticism (which, if you are not completely present, can take you out and pull you down emotionally) you actively found something to share and counteract that message.

 

Im not talking about just ‘positive thinking’ here nor having it be like putting lipstick on a pig, but using conscious action to shift your attention and use the power of your virtual voice to focus on the instances of loving action and truth that are around us in abundance.

 

How powerful it is to take full responsibility for our own state of mind and what we allow to fill it and fuel it!

 

So for example, I recently re-posted the news that it has been announced that all children of asylum seekers will be released from detention in Australia by Xmas. With a call to action to lend your voice by calling Malcolm Turnbull’s office to follow through on processing this decision without delay.

 

What I feel will happen is similar to what I experience in my own body and that is a feeling of expansion and lightness rather than a powerless contraction that can often be felt when focus goes on what ISN”T working rather than what IS. Ultimately it is all ‘working’ even when it doesn’t look or feel that way but that’s a WHOLE other blog post!

 

I would love to hear from any of you with examples of where you have counteracted a fearful message or piece of news with a loving one. And in particular I would love to hear if you were able to notice any shift in your energy about it all. It may take a few goes to become obvious but today feels like the day to start!
